Being Counseling, PLLC (“Being Counseling,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website beingcounseling.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit the Site or contact us through it.

This policy covers the website only. It does not describe how we handle Protected Health Information (PHI) created during therapy — that is governed separately by our Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA, which is provided directly to clients at intake and available on request.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly, such as when you fill out our contact or appointment request form: name, email address, phone number, and any message content you choose to include.

Information collected automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and time spent on the Site, typically gathered through cookies and standard web analytics tools.

We do not knowingly collect health information through the website’s general contact forms. Please avoid including details about your mental health history, diagnoses, or treatment needs in general web forms — a phone call or our secure client portal is the appropriate place for that information.

How We Use Information

We use the information collected to:

  • Respond to inquiries and schedule appointments
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
  • Understand how visitors use the Site (via aggregated analytics)
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and Analytics

The Site may use cookies and third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand site traffic and usage patterns. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; some site features may not function properly if you do so.

Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites (such as our insurance partners or scheduling platform). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies separately.

Session Recording

With your separate, written consent, Being Counseling may audio record therapy sessions. Recordings are used solely to support transcription and the preparation of SOAP notes and treatment plans, and are not used for any other purpose without your additional authorization.

Recordings are stored securely and are regularly and permanently deleted once transcription and documentation are complete, on a weekly basis. Recording is optional: declining does not affect your access to services, and you may withdraw consent to be recorded at any time.

This section describes recording practice at a general level; the specific authorization for session recording is documented separately in your intake paperwork, consistent with our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information submitted through the Site. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

You may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you from website interactions, or to request that we delete it, subject to any legal retention requirements.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
